This is a great activity to focus on character development or story elements. The way it works is three students are chosen to be contestants on the game show. As one example, they secretly choose a character to represent. The rest of the class is divided into three groups, each group focusing on one of the contestants. Each group takes turns asking their contestant questions, to which the contestant can only answer "Yes" or "No." Group 1 asks first, Group 2 asks next, and so on. (A big rule is that a guess is equal to a question, so a group cannot ask a question and guess on the same turn). The first group to correctly identify their character wins. The game show can be altered so that, for example, the contestant thinks of a single story. (The contestants also have to tell the teacher who they are so that it can be fairly monitored.) This activity is awesome to have students apply what they learned from stories, and for students to think of characteristics of stories.
