Students love knowing that their teachers were once a kid, because it seems like it was so long ago. However, even when we were young, we had favorite books. Modeling that we had/have favorite books is important to let our students know that we are active readers. "Leader readers" can be a daily, weekly, or monthly activity where teachers pose with their favorite book for a picture. The picture can go on display in the foyer, outside the teacher's classroom door, or in the library. A short review, or why they like the book, allows teachers to show their true colors, as well as being a great motivator for students to want to read that book too.
