License to Read

For this activity, use those spare moments while you're driving to read road signs, store names, or even bumper stickers.  It's amazing how many reading opportunities there are while you're on the road.  You can play a Bingo-type game, a detective-type game, or find words that begin with each letter of the alphabet.  With any of these activities, your child can get closer to earning their "license to read!"

A brief outline of a "License to Read."
  • Read road signs
  • Read store names
  • Read tractor trailer signs
  • Read words in the car
  • Read bumper stickers
  • Use time in the car to read a book
